Getting Back Together Safely

Date: 21st Mar 2021 Author: East Somerset

Following the latest Government announcement the National Youth Agency (NYA) have confirmed that we are expected to move to AMBER outdoors from 29th March (information below to aid with planning).

Readiness level: AMBER

This means: Limited group sessions can take place outdoors only. No visits/ trips or residential activities.

Maximum group size:

  • Activities involving young people: 15 young people plus 5 leaders.
  • Scout Network programmed activities (non social): 15 young people plus 5 leaders
  • Adult activities (non-social) with no young people present: check local government guidance

Note: members requiring the direct support of a carer may do so with the carer being counted as an addition to those number permitted above.

Note: young leaders can be counted within the young person or leader numbers for activities with young people.

Note: Activities should be in a single location and no trips/visits or residentials are permitted. This includes hike based activities and those which move a group around a number of locations in one session.

Note: In line with the government moving to Step 2 (no earlier than 12th April 2021) we are anticipating a move to AMBER indoors at this point. This allows for meetings indoor and trips and visits (overnight and residential experiences will remain prohibited) within amber. No expected change to the other limitations of Amber outlined above.
