County Scout Challenge @ Huish Woods Scout Campsite

We would like you to encourage your young people to join in at this Annual Event of the Scout Section!

This year’s Challenge will be taking place at Huish Woods Camp Site near Taunton.  The event is designed for Scouts of all ages to participate. Scouts will need to register between 3.30pm and 4.40pm.  The Challenge will then start at 5.00pm. Scouts will be ready to leave by 9:30pm.

The Challenge

The challenge will involve the Patrols going round to a selection of bases located around the camp site. At each base the Scouts will need to complete a ‘Scout’ Challenge, these challenge’s will all be from the Scout Section Programme.  Each base will last 15 minutes. The Patrol with the highest Score at the end of the evening will receive the Challenge Trophy. Due to the number of bases a maximum of 44 patrols will be able to enter the event, this will be allocated on the first 44 patrols to book in and pay in full.


The cost will be £20.00 for each patrol taking part. This is to be paid at the same time as sending in the application form. Closing Date for the Challenge is Thursday 31st October 2019. Any applications received after this can’t be accepted.

Other Information

Leaders are encouraged to come along with their Scouts, but will be ask to help will the bases, they will not be allowed walk around with their Scouts throughout the Challenge. If Leaders are seen to be assisting their Scouts, points will be deducted.

Health Forms

ALL Scouts without exception must fill in a Health Form and they must be returned with the application form by post.


Patrols must have a minimum of 4 Scouts and a maximum of 7 Scouts aged between 10 and 14½  years old. As we are limited to 44 Patrols, Could all Leaders maximise the size of your Patrols.


Scouts will need to bring hiking boots, wet weather clothes, torch & a drink/snack. Scout scarf is to be worn during the challenge. Hot food,   sweets, and   drinks will be on sale during the event.
